Walnut Street Apartments/22 High Street is a Federally funded family development consisting of 100 apartments including one, two, three, and four-bedroom units. A seven story, high rise, elevator- equipped building, 22 High Street has 68 units, some of which are wheelchair accessible. The eight four-bedroom townhouse units at 28-42 Walnut Street each have basement storage and private front yards. The twenty-four units at 4-12 and 16-24 Walnut Street are in two story, garden-style buildings. These units are designated for elderly/disabled residents. The Manager's office is located on the first floor of 22 High Street.
The development is a block away from Route 9 (Boylston Street) and Brookline Village with its restaurants, shopping and banking. Jamaica Pond is within walking distance as are Huntington and South Huntington Avenues. The Green Line's "D" Reservoir trolley and the #66 bus stop almost across the street from the development.
